On September 18–21, a training for mentor candidates took place at the Day Center for Social and Psychological Assistance in Ternopil. The training was part of the mentor preparation program for individuals working with children living in orphanages, residential care facilities, and other institutions, helping them develop social adaptation skills and prepare for independent living.

Over four intensive days, we worked productively with 13 participants. Trainers from DiyMo and the Ternopil Regional Center of Social Services, together with a supervisor from the Mentoring Association for Children and Youth, created a safe space for learning, reflection, and open dialogue.

Each participant came with their own story, motivation, and journey. It was incredibly valuable to witness their openness, sincerity, and genuine desire to understand themselves and their role as mentors.

This training became an important milestone — for some, it was the first step; for others, a continuation of their journey in supporting children and youth. We are especially glad that this was the trainers’ first experience conducting a training based on the individual mentoring program. We deeply admire their level of knowledge, preparation, and commitment to the mentoring idea and are ready to support them further along the way.
